Abstract
The following research is based on 350 questionnaire surveys asking women in the city of Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do, regarding the perception of their own scalp and scalp care. Of the 350 questionnaires, 332 were used for analysis data and yielded the following results: Regarding the level of interest in scalp and hair loss, the majority groups are as follows: 39.2% showed great interest in the condition of their scalp and hair loss, 35.5% were "neutral" on whether they had scalp problems, and 33.7% were "neutral" regarding their hair loss. In addition, the majority believed to have 80 to 120 strands of hair loss a day, and in the balding category the highest percentage of subjects were in their 30s at 26.2%. The majority, 35.8%, were unaware of the shape of their receding hairline. The test subjects believed that dying/bleaching/perming, alcohol consumption, smoking, eating habits, stress, disease, malnutrition, environmental pollution, genetics, all affect hair loss and the condition of their scalp. Among the balding subjects, the majority, 26.5%, used specialty hair products that assist with scalp recovery and hair loss, and 18.1% visited a scalp/hair clinic or hospital. Furthermore, the majority of subjects, 30.1%, and 19.3% spent less than 30 minutes and less than 30 thousand won, respectively, on scalp and hair care. In addition, 31.1% of balding subjects believed that scalp and hair recovery products and services assisted them, and 58.4% believed that continued treatment was necessary. When asked about the possibility of wearing a wig, 33.7% said they would not and 60.3% of subjects said they would seriously consider scalp and hair loss treatment if they ever experienced problems with scalp or hair loss.
